Steps for obtaining a
Membership
To ensure a high standard of craftsmanship and a collaborative studio environment, we have established specific criteria for new members. Our goal is to create a space where experienced and dedicated potters can work independently while contributing to the professionalism of the studio. If you meet the following requirements and share our commitment to continuous learning and community spirit, we encourage you to apply.
How do we screen new applicants?
The Application Process
As we have limited spaces available, we are carefully screening new applicants for membership. The application process includes the following steps. If you meet the criteria listed below, please contact Rhonda at info@theceramiccentre.com
1. Minimum Training Requirements
Minimum 60 hours of lessons in throwing or 40 hours of hand-building at a reputable studio. Preference is given to potters who have already worked independently in a shared studio setting.
2. Ability to Work Independently
This includes theoretical knowledge of clay, slips, and glazes and how to use them in a studio setting (not a class).
3. Demonstrated Skill Level
A minimum of 5 completed pieces of work that demonstrate a competent level of skill in either hand-building or wheel throwing.
4. Commitment to Learning and Growth
Willingness to continue the process of training and improving, with the ability to self-educate. We believe that attending courses and workshops is essential to broaden the range of skills and techniques at your command.
5. Community Mindset
Community-minded and willing and able to contribute to the development and professionalism of the studio. With a large number of members, we believe that each member must be committed to the overall excellence of the studio.
6. Respect for Studio Guidelines and Members
Agreement to respect the studio guidelines, the space, the other members, and their belongings. Trust is an essential part of a shared space.
